What is 3D Modeling?
3D Modeling is the process of developing a mathematical representation of any surface of an object (either inanimate or living) in three dimensions via specialized software. The product is called a 3D model. Someone who works with 3D models may be referred to as a 3D artist. It can be displayed as a two-dimensional image through a process called 3D rendering or used in a computer simulation of physical phenomena. The model can also be physically created using 3D printing devices.
See this pen below is not a simple 3d model, it’s not what you think, its much more. 😉
This pen was designed according
to the theme; ‘Valentines day special’. The ‘Heart’ color Red was applied, since it attracts anyone easily and of course it is the color of love!
As an ardent designer, I joined Unplugged creations. I am here not for creating boring design, along with the team we want to change the game.
Software: Studio lighting i.e. three point lighting effects was used in the completion if this model. It was rendered with Mental ray which is probably best known render engine in the industry.
Time taken to Complete the model:2 days with decent performance PC , core i3 4gb ram and 1tb hard disk with windows 7 professional.
What are the three points of light we’re talking about? Well, here is a short explanation of the three points lighting which is an extract from IzzyVideo.com:
- The Key Light – This is the main light used on your subject.
- The Fill Light – The purpose of this light is to fill in the shadows created by the key light, preventing them from getting too dark.
- The Back Light – This is used to separate the subject from the background.
