With more than 7.5 million pictures posted #unicorn on instagram, it’s impossible for you to not have fallen on one. It’s believed to have overcome the #mermaid popularity online.
If you think this is the first time that the unicorn got famous, you’re absolutely wrong. It can be dated back to to the Mesopotamian times where it featured in artworks. It was also present in ancient myths of India and China. It is known as Scotland’s national animal. And in the 16th century in England, the unicorn was stamped in hot wax for some legal documents (virtute et industria). There are many more instances! But they weren’t rainbow-coloured-and-glittered at those times.
The recent glitter-rainbow colours got in around 2 years back. It appeals to kids and adults alike, and mostly to girls.

The Unicorn trend manifests its presence in several things – some of them include cups, teapots, toys, tattoos, t-shirts, snuggies, pool floats, pyjamas, notebooks, stickers, unicorn essence skin serum, unicorn tears lipstick, unicorn makeup brushes, unicorn noodles, unicorn cupcakes, unicorn sushi rolls, and even unicorn workout supplements!
