Vardavar water festival is celebrated on the 14th Sunday after Easter. It was on July 8th this year and some shots from Armenia show the pomp and grandeur with which Vardavar is celebrated. Other than just a merry making and fun day, Vardavar is linked to the Transfiguration of Jesus – where he appeared shining from head to toe and his clothes became as white as snow. Pigeons and dove are released in some regions as a remembrance of the Flood and the dove of Noah as well as the Flood that will occur at the end of the world.
